Carolyn's Poetry Corner

"Corner of My World"
I would like to take you to the corner of my world.
Where we can laugh and play, sing and be young again.
We can forget our troubles for a little while and
Share stories of days gone by.
A place where we can forget for a time
and examine our mind.
Of the heartache we feel inside.

Alzheimer's has taken our loved ones away,
but we try to share in their day.
If only we could go back to where our
loved ones had gone.

But we can't, so we dream of a life that we once had.
Of a time we share together.
We go into that corner of our mind
and dream of days gone by.

I know the need to reach out and touch someone and
say I understand, don't go away, talk to me.
I will listen. Let me know how you feel.
Open your heart, bare your soul.
Don't be afraid to show yourself to me.
I understand, I really do.

I have been there and all I have now is
the corner of my world to remember.
Come with me and enjoy the day
Take time for yourself and we
will laugh the day away together.
In the corner of my world.

A SPECIAL CHILD

I have prayed to God to send a
special child to love.
He has listened to my prayer's and sent
this very special child "Sutherlin".

She has brought such joy and laughter
into our lives
A special child from God above.

As she grows in God's love she will
know that she is "Truly Loved".

As I hold her in my arms and close to me
I know God has chosen this special
child called "Sutherlin Paige" just for me.

For Carolyn;
The Long Road

The road has been long and hard my dear
But I want you to know you have nothing to fear
for I am with you and there I will Stay
Hope for the future and a much brighter day.
The tie that binds your loved one and you
will not be undone for it is not held by glue
there is something much stronger that cannot be seen
and nothing will separate you or come between.
It is the love of the spirit deep with each of you
that will hold you together for the spirit is true
as you trudge down this road just follow your heart
for nothing or no one can tear you apart.
Reach out and take my hand as you go
the road may seem rough but we will go slow
so that every obstacle we will surmount
until it is obvious and there is no more doubt.

Angelic Presence

May the pain of loss for you
be lifted up to God today
so that your burdens grow light
passing on through heavenly rays.
May all sorrow in your heart
be replaced with love and peace
granting you renewed assurance
that new life is meant to be.
May you feel angelic presence's
surrounding you at this time
with God's peace that far surpasses
any other peace of mind.

Written for you with lots of love, ((hugs)) and prayers by your friend,
Viola :o)©

The Heavy Heart
The tears in my eyes
Show the heavy heart I have inside.
Lord, I ask you to ease the pain
and wipe the tears from my eyes.
THe heaviness that I feel only you can heal.
A touch from you can take it away
Then I can stand a brand new day.

I HAVE A HEAVY HEART TODAY
I have a heavy heart today
I ask the Lord to take it away
But He said my child don't you see
The heaviness is born of me.
You go through life and then one day
I will take the heaviness away.
I too have a heavy heart
my children whom I have loved have strayed away.
But you who I send will show them the way
To bring them back where they will stay.
The heavy heart is gone right now
Because you have done what the Lord wanted you to do.

The Empty Face
I Look into your face
your eyes stare into space.
I try to search deep into your soul
to find the man I once knew
But he is not there.
The emptiness goes beyond compare.
Where are you? I ask
Where have you gone...
Speak to me...
I love you still
I want you back
I need you here
but the empty face is still there.

THE FACE YOU SEE

The face you see is not me.
It is the face you want it to be.
It doesn't let you know how I feel
So, you don't see the hurt it conceals.
If you would take the time to look,
you could see my face is an open book.
If  you would look into my eyes,
you would see the tears they hide.
My friends now don't have time for me
since I was told I have trouble with memory.
I can't help what has happened to me,
but people look at me differently.
Oh God! They don't understand,
but they could be there to hold my hand.
Alzheimer's is a terrible disease,
it strips you of who you used to be.
So, I wear a mask for all to see,
that on the outside I am still who I used to be.

WHO ARE YOU?

Who are you? - He looked at me
and asked with widened eyes ---
Well I 'm your wife of many years
don't act as though suprised!!
He studied me again, and said
"Who are you?" - Don't delay
I do not recognize a thing
In all you've had to say...
Do you come here to take my hand
and care for me, so dear ---
Or are you around to frighten me
and cause my heart to fear?
I looked at  him, this man I'd know
for almost all my life ---
The man who'd raised two children
worked hard, and loved his wife.
Within his eyes, I saw the truth
No longer could he hide ---
He really doesn't know me now
Although I'm by his side!!
I ask for God to strengthen me
For all which lies ahead ---
To heal the stabbing pains I feel
Inside my heart and head.
I always thought the cruelest words
To one, could ever be said
Were: 'I don't love you anymore'
But I found out instead
The hardest words to ever hear
That break your heart in two...
Are not born out of cruelty...
But innocence -- And ask: 'Who are You?'

Carolyn's Mom

Here is a beautiful song Carolyn wrote shortly after her mother passed on in 1975.

NO MORE TEARS
GOD'S PRESENCE A PLACE TO REST
OH LORD I PRAY THAT YOU GIVE ME THE WORDS
TO EXPRESS JUST HOW I FEEL.
MAMA'S GONE TO HEAVEN SHE'S WITH THE SAVIOR
SHE HAS PASSED BEYOND THE VALLEY OF TEARS
NO MORE TEARS, NO SORROW, NO MORE HEARTACHES
TO FOLLOW PRAISE GOD! HE HAS TAKEN HER HOME
SHE KNEW JESUS WAS COMING FOR HER
AND SHE TOLD US NOT TO SHED ANY TEARS
THAT HER WORK HERE ON EARTH WAS OVER
AND PRAISE GOD, SHE WAS NOW GOING HOME
THIS OLD HOME WON'T BE THE SAME ANYMORE
THERE'LL BE MEMORIES HERE NOW THAT SHE'S GONE
BUT PRAISE GOD I LOVE HER AND KNOW THAT SOMEDAY
I WILL SEE HER IN THAT HEAVENLY PLACE
MAMA'S SINGING WITH THE ANGELS TODAY
PRAISING GOD IN A MAGNIFICENT WAY
I KNOW THAT SOMEDAY I WILL SEE HER AGAIN
PRAISE GOD IN THAT HEAVENLY PLACE
GOD SEES THE TEARS IN OUR EYES AS HE GENTLY WIPES
THEM AWAY AND HIS WORD SHOWS US THE WAY TO HEAVEN
PRAISE GOD! ARE YOU SAVED TODAY
NO MORE TEARS, NO MORE SORROW, NO MORE HEARTACHES
TO FOLLOW PRAISE GOD!
HE HAS TAKEN HER HOME

Till You Walk in My Shoes

You don't know the hurt i feel,
nor can you understand it.
You don't see the hurt in my eyes
for you're not in my place.
You're not there to hold my hand
No, you can't understand
Till you walk in my shoes.

I tried to explain the heartache I feel,
but you don't hear me.
You don't take the time to listen
No, you can't understand
Till you walk in my shoes.

Back in time I go and you ignore me
Memory is fading and no one cares
You are too busy to hear my cry
You just don't listen
But someday you will understand and be
Sorry you weren't there to hold my hand.

The emptiness when you look into my eyes
How helpless you feel when they ask WHO ARE YOU?
You can't understand the hurt I feel
Till you walk in my shoes.

You wonder how far back in time they've gone
When you try to bring them back where you are
So treasure the moments that you have left
Because soon they will fade away.

Alzheimer's is a terrible disease
It takes away your memory
It could happen to anyone at any time
For you see today
You could be walking in my shoes.

Lord I Need Your Strength

Oh Lord give me grace
To what it is I have to face.
I need your strength
To see me through
for I'm so tired and worn out too.

The days are slow and the nights are long
waiting for the morning dawn.
I think I just can't find my way
But the grace and strength you give me
helps me face another day.

The following poem was written by Carolyn for Dorothy Womack

CHOSEN CHILD

You are chosen my child
By God above.
To take the message of God's love.
You may feel this path is not for you
But I have chosen it for you to do.
I will be by your side
each step of the way
So that you will not go astray.
The pathway is narrow and not much fun
But please, don't try to run.
So take your time and you will see
That YOU have been chosen by me.
You are chosen my child,
For ALL to see.
That you will make it through, you and Me.
For God has chosen for you to stand tall
So others will see you and not fall.

My Special Friend

When the storm clouds threaten me
And toss me to and fro,
I don't know where I 'm going
There is this friend I know
She has a calming hand to touch me
And make the dark clouds disappear
So I won't have any fear.
She takes my hand and holds it tight
I cling to her with all my might.
She gives me support and hope
So that I can cope when the storm
of life's strong winds blow.
When I feel all alone
I have a friend all my own.
That scatter's the dark cloud away
I then have a brighter day.

SISTER'S A SPECIAL GIFT

YOU ARE MY SISTER WHOM I LOVE VERY MUCH
GOD GAVE YOU TO ME AS A SPECIAL TRUST.
A SPECIAL TREASURE MORE PRECIOUS THAN GOLD.
YOU ARE REAL AND "DEAR SISTERS" YOU HAVE BEEN TOLD.
YOU'VE ALWAYS BEEN THERE THROUGH
LIFE'S JOURNEY FOR ME.
I WANT YOU TO KNOW YOU HAVE BEEN MORE
THAN JUST SISTERS TO ME.
I APPRECIATE ALL YOU HAVE DONE
THE BEAUTY IN LIFE IS TO LEAST HAVE ONE.
I AM THANKFUL AND "BLESSED" GOD GAVE ME MORE
TO MY SISTERS WHOM I ADORE.

THE LORD KNOWS ALL ABOUT US

The Lord knows all about us
 He knows everything.
He knows when we are crying
He knows when we are singing
He also know when the trails
Are too much for us to bear.
 He will comfort our hearts
When we think other don't care.
He knows when we are sad
When a loved one passes on
 In our nights darkest hour
He will give you a song.

A QUIET PLACE

A QUIET PLACE IN CONFIDENCE
WITH YOU MY LORD.
I OPEN MY HEART BEFORE YOU IN CONFIDENCE.
THE THINGS I SHARE WHICH ONLY YOU CAN UNDERSTAND.
A PLACE TO HIDE WITH YOU BY MY SIDE.

IN CONFIDENCE I SHARE MY DEEPEST HURTS
I CRY OUT AND ONLY YOU CAN HEAR ME.
A QUIET PLACE TO SPEND TIME WITH YOU.
SO THAT YOU CAN HEAL THIS FRAGILE HEART
THAT IS BROKEN IN SO MANY PIECES.
I NEED YOU LORD TO GIVE ME PEACE IN MY SOUL
SO I FOUND THIS QUIET PLACE TO REST WITH YOU IN CONFIDENCE.

I AM AT PEACE NOW WITH YOU BY MY SIDE LORD.
YOU HAVE HEALED MY BROKEN HEART AND WIPED THE TEARS FROM MY EYES.
NOW I AM REASSURED TO SPEND TIME WITH YOU IN A QUIET PLACE IN
CONFIDENCE.

Hurting People

Your people are hurting today dear Lord.
Let them feel your healing touch in there soul.
Let them feel your presence and
Know that you are always there.
I ask that you bless them Lord.

Your people are crying Lord
For all the sickness and decease's that are in the world.
But you have the power to wipe it away.
They ask what can we do? But feel there is no answer.
Let them know Lord you are right there with them.
Wipe the tears from their eyes and put a new song in
There heart Lord.
I ask you to bless your hurting people today
And let them know they are loved.

SHARE THE LORD.. DO NOT SEEK

               God, much too often
We seek You in prayer
Because we are wallowing
In our own self-despair
We make every word
A need.. in prayer
We pray for ourselves
and seldom for others,
We're concerned with our problems
And not with our brothers
We forget, Lord,
that the time we pray
Is not for self-seeking
But to place in Your care
All the lost souls
Unloved and unknown
And to keep praying for them
Until there your own
For it's never enough
To seek God in prayer
With no thought of others
Who are lost in despair
So teach us, dear Lord,
The Power of Prayer
Is made stronger by placing
Them in Your Care!
